Desert Dwarf
The Desert Dwarves are Dwarves native to Maztica who traveled from Faerûn over 1000 years ago, after becoming trapped in the underdark when their tunnels collapsed. They traveled far to the east and settled in the House of Tezca desert in the south of Maztica where they would live in relative peace in small clans of no more than 500 each, building their villages into the sides of cliffs and canyons, rather than burrowing deep within. Without access to advanced metallurgy, and living in a region without much in the way of mineral resources, the Desert Dwarves fell back on what they had; Stone, Clay, Volcanic Glass and jewels. While they lack the advanced engineering and metalsmithing technologies of their brethren in other places, they more than make up for that in their stonecrafting and jewelry. Desert Dwarf pottery and jewelcrafts are highly coveted collectors items, and can fetch high prices at auction. They are darker skinned than their Faerûnian brethren, and just a bit hairier.
